CST 329 Reasoning with Logic
\n \n\n In this course students learn to develop skill in using logic to\n describe and assess arguments. Students will learn to write\n formulas in propositional and first-order logic, and more\n importantly, to write and check proofs. Students will also learn\n to write formulas in three-valued and modal logic, know how to\n choose an appropriate logic, and understand the limitations of\n logic in capturing human reasoning.\n

CST 334 Operating Systems
\n \n\n Students in this course will learn about the use and design of\n modern operating systems, focusing on Linux. On the “use” side,\n students will learn the Linux command line, to write shell\n scripts, and to build programs with GNU utilities like awk, sed,\n and make. On the “design” side, students will develop a deep\n understanding of process management, memory management, file\n systems, and concurrency, and how they apply to modern\n technologies like virtualization and cloud computing.\n

\n \n\n Provides students with the fundamental concepts to develop\n large-scale software, focusing on the object-oriented\n programming techniques. Coverage includes the introduction to\n Java programming language, object-oriented programming, software\n life cycle and development processes, requirements analysis, and\n graphical user interface development.\n

CST 370 Design and Analysis of Algorithms
\n \n\n Students learn important data structures in computer science and\n acquire fundamental algorithm design techniques to get the\n efficient solutions to several computing problems from various\n disciplines. Topics include the analysis of algorithm\n efficiency, hash, heap, graph, tree, sorting and searching,\n brute force, divide-and-conquer, decrease-and-conquer,\n transform-and-conquer, dynamic programming, and greedy\n programming.\n

\nCST 328 Digital Art and Design
\n \n\n A survey course that combines the study of technology, design\n and aesthetic principles as they apply to twenty-first century\n visual media. Students learn how fundamental concepts of art and\n design apply to a broad range of commercial, expressive and\n entertainment forms. Students also study the democratization of\n the creative process through digital media, using current\n technology to produce sophisticated and expressive examples of\n personal digital creativity.\n

CST 462S Race, Gender, and Class in the Digital World
\n \n\n Provides students with key knowledge of race, gender, class and\n social justice especially in relation to technology in today’s\n digital world. Students challenge the barriers of expertise,\n gender, race, class, and location that restrict wider access to\n and understanding of the production and usage of new\n technologies. Students will engage in a practical experience in\n the community via their service placements, which will provide\n depth and context for considering questions of justice,\n equality, social responsibilities and the complexities of\n technology and its societal impact. The course uses scenario\n based approach combining presentations, discussions, and\n reflections to allow students explore the relationship between\n critical reflection and action on the topics mentioned above.{\" \"}\n

\n The following class stands on its own at the end of the program and\n is the culmination of everything else from both the core and the\n concentration.\n
\nCST 499 Computer Science Capstone
\n \n\n Students will work on a project in large groups (up to 5\n students in each group), developing requirements specification,\n a solution plan followed by design and implementation of the\n solution. The problem statement for the projects will be\n selected by the faculty. Faculty will also play the role of a\n project manager directing the schedule and deliverables for\n these projects.\n
